VOM REMEMBER PRESIDENT MUSA
ABRAHIM KAMARA ADMINISTRATION’s LEGACY By:VOM staff writer September 26, 2009  It
is often said that honor belong to those that deserve it. We the staffs
at VOM want to take this time to acknowledge the hard-work, successes,
wisdom and sacrifices made by honorable Musa Abrahim Kamara led
administration. When Mr. Kamara, took over the top seat in MMA the community was in disarray and he pledged to the community members that he will unite the people without taking side with any body within MMA. He further said that he will treat everyone equal whether you are old or young, male or female, supporters or non supporters, he will be the president for all. We also remembered vividly during Mr. Kamara acceptance speech when he mentioned that he was not celebrating victory but he was celebrating purposed. Truly this beautiful man of our beloved community has live up to expectation. Today the people of Minnesota Mandingo Association are walking shoulder to shoulder and toe to toe under the leadership of Honorable Musa kamara. Honestly, he is a natural born leader and an inspiration for many. As he prepares to leave office we feel that we are under moral obligation to say at least in our own Liberian way “thank you yaa.” Over the past couple of weeks, Mr. Kamara, was approached by several permanent members of MMA asking him to continue running the office of president. But his response to them was: “I took the job in order to bring stability which I have done to the latter, and I think we will be in good shape no matter who take after me”. He further said that: his future obligation will not permit him to serve the office effectively because of school, family, and recent responsibility at work. When Mr. Kamara, took over the community there was no website, in the next two months of his presidency, a new website was created which is now available for all. While in the process of other engagements, one of our opinion leaders was in town, with in short notice he called on the community to give honorable sheick Kafumba Konneh, a warn welcome. Without no delay the program was well attended, as a matter of fact, some called the speech given by Sheik Konneh, as one college credit. But to many, they called it a demonstration in recognition of our opinion leader hard work. Honorable kamara, love for the community has led him to call for an early election. He was elected in November 29, 2007 and inaugurated in January 13, 2008. Technically, his mandate is due to expire in January 13, 2010. But MMA Constitution asks that election be held in June. In order to return to that time table, Mr. Kamara, voluntarily decided to reduce his term two months early with the hope that the next administration will do the same- so that we can return to the original calendar month (June of every other year). With his concern of check and balance of the Executive and the people they govern. Honorable Kamara instituted an advisory board compressing of six males and five females to serve as advisors and auditors to his administration, in which Mr. Bangaly Trawally, became chairman. Moreover, When Mr. kamara took office in January of 2008; he promised that he will lobby to bring Felmausa convention in the twin cities. The moment he took the stage in Philly (2008 convention) on the first night of that convention, he asked the audience that it was time for MMA to host the third annual convention. With his continue request and help from others, MMA was awarded the popular gathering of Mandingo and people of Mandingo descend. Under his watch, this year Felmausa’s convention was considered as one of the best intense of revenue and other events. Today MMA can boast of being in good standing with Felmausa because of his commitment to the growth of the mother organization, MMA paid their dues for the calendar years of 2008 and 2009. Beside that, the office space which is use for MMA meeting and other events rent has been paid. For the record, recently Mr. Kamara, re-negotiated with the Director for “Center for Families” to reduce our monthly rent about 25% The administration kept constant and prompt communication with the community via the energetic press secretary (Alh Donzo). The kamara’s led administration maintains excellent relation with all chapters in Felmausa and more. For the first time in MMA history the administration honor our mothers (Mother Day) for their hard-work and dedication to the community. When we quizzed Mr. Kamara, whether he has any ambitious about position in Felmausa his response was “not really”. But said with his vast experience in community service versus other future responsibilities he can only be an advisor. Honorable Kamara’s, wealth of leadership skills and wisdom can’t be overstated. As he embarks on other responsibilities, we wish him well and good luck in his endeavors. But we also want to remind him that once a leader is away a leader, you don’t have to be a president to share your God –given talent with us, we will always need your advice. As some people call you “Chief Musa”, other calls you “Mr. Personality” we are proud to call you as one of our best leaders. |
