Forum for the Advancement of Liberian Mandingoes & their Descendants (FALMD) A Common cause for common people Movement Sylla Building, Front Street-Monrovia, Liberia-Cells: (06) +533466/ (o6) +27469 Emails:solanso07@hotmail.com/bossokorbama2005@yahoo.co.uk FALMD’s Community Forum gains momentum-Members and Visitors X-rayed Prof. Kromah : Monrovia, October 25, 2009…..The Forum for the Advancement of Liberian Mandingoes and their Descendants was overwhelmingly entertained when it hosted Professor Alhaji GV Kromah and campaign delegation at its meeting ground in the vicinity of Bardnersville Junction. Having been invited by FALMD to attend its cross-examination exercise for various senatorial aspirants intended to afford members and the general populace the opportunity to know, understand and appreciate the platforms of those who are currently vouching for their votes to be the next Junior Senator for Montserrado County, the professor and team escorted by several vehicles and campaign paraphernalia arrived amidst thunderous applauds from the more than 300 waiting crowds.
After
brief welcoming remarks and introductory presentation by the Acting
Chairman and Co-Chairman of FALMD, Professor Alhaji Kromah began his
presentation with great words of praises for the ever-growing membership
of FALMD and encourage the leadership of the organization to continue to
continue its good work and not lose sight of proactive initiatives that
would make the institution more vibrant and people-centered responding
to the needs of its members and the larger Liberian nation. The press release quoted Mr. Kromah as indicating that upon being elected as Junior Senator for Montserrado County, he will initiate a dialogue and problem-solving mechanism that will be characterized by constant interactions between his office and the electorates through regular council meetings to be attended by district and community leaders, where issues appertaining to the county will be adequately addressed. The aspirant further pledged not to sign any law, agreement, or investment contract without firstly consulting the people of Montserrado County. The Pro-democracy and Civil rights movement release indicated that aspirant Kromah affectionately known by his followers and admirers as GV also called on Liberians to vote for experience, intelligence, professionalism and integrity and not someone who will take the whole while to learn on the job, adding that the House of Senate is no small matter-if it were not for our governance system which has made it to seems like nothing when in fact it is one of those houses that constitute the 1st branch of government. The candidate then promised to ensure that the people of Montserrado County benefit from key development packages already specified in the 2009/2010 National Budget as well as seek donors attention for the development of the county, especially rural Montserrado, which according to him has long been neglected by policy makers and implementers. On the whole, FALMD said Candidate Kromah received (5) questions on key national issues ranging from the much-discussed TRC reports to that of religious tolerance and equity -to all of which he appropriately responded with the audience and questioners being the best judge of his responses. In a related development, FALMD says it has been called on by almost all of the invited senatorial aspirants to serve as one of the observers during the November 10, 2009 bi-elections with the latest being the call by Professor Kromah that the organization must join other like-minded rights institution in ensuring that the this election is held within the confine of transparency, fair play and peaceful atmosphere. The release concluded that the organization has forwarded the request to its National Executive Committee (NEC) which is expected to make a determination in the coming days.
