Reforms Are Intended to Improve Service Delivery And Not to Hurt People!
By: Jesefu Morris Keita, Jr.
10 May, 2010
Monrovia, May 10, 2010………….Public Works Minister Atty. Samuel Kofi Woods, II says reforms in government are intended to improve service delivery rather than hurt people and called on Liberians to get ready in embracing the new Public Works which will emerge following the current trends of reform at the Ministry.
The Public Works Minister made these comments during the opening of a two-day intensive Institutional Development retreat organized by the MPW to develop a Strategic Planning Framework for the next five years.
The retreat held at the Catholic Pastoral Retreat Center in Gbarnga City, Bong County brought together all Senior Staff of the Ministry of Public Works, who participated in the review of the Institution’s mandates, vision, mission and programmes.
Speaking to a cross section of employees, Minister Woods said reforms in the public sector will only become a resounding reality if they as officials of government allay people of the fears associated with change and transformation, adding that “as Liberians, we must change ourselves in order to change the nation.”

According to MPW officials, it is now expected that the MPW will accelerate much needed reforms in terms of size, capacity and efficiency so as to further improve its performance in delivering quality service to the Liberian nation and people.
It can be recalled that over the past 5- years, Minister Woods has become a noted reformer as evidenced by the tremendous changes he has brought to the two key institutions and many Presidential commissions on which has worked.
