High Power Liberian Government
Delegation to Resolve ULLA Dispute By: Sekou Kenneh-Opinion Leader, MN 04 May, 2010 As
exchanges regarding the presence of a high-power delegations from the
Liberian Government led by its planning minister, Mr. Amara Konneh
continue to dominate our various Liberian list serves, the accusation
leveled against Min. Konneh by Mr. James Larssah is also ringing bell in
the Liberian community. The Minister has been accused of" taking side"
on the ongoing in-fighting between the so-called" ULLA K." Led by Mr.
Anthony Kesseley and quote-on-quote " Internet ULLA" led by Ms. Mariah
Seton. This accusation has claimed the attentions of many stakeholders within the Liberian community. I have no knowledge of any public comment from Mr. Konneh regarding this allegation as of yet, even though Mr. Konneh is known by many as outspoken, eloquent and an astute public servant. He's accused by Mr. James Larssah who is known" to be the brained behind" the Mariah Seton led ULLA. Mr. Larssah accused Min. Konneh of" siding with Anthony Kesseley" because of what he called" his kinsman from the same Mandingo ethnic group". Mr. Larssah also alleged that Min. Konneh is using his position and the Liberian government to influence the Liberian embassy near Washington DC, to recognize the Kesseley led ULLA as the only ULLA. Personally, regardless of the magnitude of these allegations, I don't see it as an attack on neither Min. Konneh nor the Mandingo ethnic group as construed by others, but rather, a signal or a wake-up call for the Liberian government to intervene and find an amicable solution to the endless fighting between the belligerent ULLA groups. As both parties continue to blast the various list serves with bunch of self-serving narratives, we the reading audience have had enough of these disrespectful comments and childish insults by both parties on our list serves. It is about time to grow up and see reasons. Continuation to infuse tribal sentiment on this issue must be condemned and discouraged by every well-meaning Liberian because, it is unLiberian, unpatriotic, unnationalistic and counter-progressive. It has the propensity to undermine our national reconciliation and degenerate something above and beyond our controls. Peaceful resolution is the only way forward. Hence, as a Liberian, I personally call on Min. Konneh and his colleagues to take advantage of this opportunity and serve as a twin-mother, call both parties to a negotiating table and resolve this issue once and for-all.
