Solomon Sylla Press Release:
06 July, 2010

MYS Psychosocial Consultant Calls on NGoS to Come to The aid of persons affected by ON-GOING demolition EXERCISE

Monrovia, Wednesday June 30, 2010…The Executive Director for the Solomon Syllah Public Library and Recreational Center, Mr. Ali Sylla is calling on both International and Local Non-governmental organizations to come to the aid of individuals recently dislocated as a result of the on-going demolition exercise aimed at clearing the streets and right-of-ways in the greater Monrovia area.

Mr. Sylla who doubles as a psycho-social consultant assigned at the Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as a Community Advocate said the current condition of some those affected by the demolition was quite deplorable and needed urgent attention from national government and other humanitarian agencies.

The youthful Community Advocate said the affected individuals are in dire need of shelter, food, clothing and vital utensils such as cooking materials.  Following contacts with relevant government agencies, Mr. Sylla has been informed that plans are underway to bring relief to those recently affected by the floods and also to those who are being removed by the recent demolition exercise launched by the Ministry of Public Works.

Consultant Sylla is however clarifying that the latest action by the Government of Liberia is quite legitimate and necessary, and that his call for swift intervention on behalf of the beneficiaries must not be misconstrued as being counter-positive to government’s agenda of giving the nation’s capital city the facelift it deserves.
