The Mamadee Sesay Campaign
Fourteen Points Platform

By: Musa Fofana, Chief Public Affair,
Atlanta, GA
June 27, 2009
As presidential candidate, the responsibility for the overall organization and management of my campaign lies under my leadership. I therefore want to make sure that we have clearly defined expectations for ourselves and for those we want to lead. One way I think we can achieve success is to make sure we set our goals and specify how we intend to achieve those goals in the short and long run.  In so doing, we need to come out with a platform that will set the tone of our campaign, shows the motivation and enthusiasm of my candidacy as well as excite our supporters

As an organization still in its infancy, I sincerely believe that what lies behind us is far lesser than what lies ahead of us. We however cannot tap into that potential blindly; we need a guide to lead us through.

I am therefore presenting the below platform as the DNA for my campaign. I will be guided by this platform in everything I do on a daily basis as president. This platform is not stationary document; we understand the need for flexibility as may be required from time to time, and we are opened to that possibility.

Below please find our Platform:

1.      Unite the community

a.      Make a point of consulting on strategic direction of Felmausa

b.      Maintain an open line of communication with chapters, members etc.

c.      Encourage mediation/reconciliation between and amongst competing interest groups in various communities.

d.      Identify and remain in constant contact with elders and stakeholders

2.      Make FELMAUSA a service oriented organization

a.      First and foremost, the key focus will be on the educational empowerment of the community through a sustained scholarship drive for our youths in Liberia and the US

b.      Work with the women wing to encourage and foster women empowerment through educational opportunities, & involvement in Felmausa committees.

4.      Empower chapter organizations

a.      Liaise with each chapter and assist them formulate policies that will foster peace, development, and dialogue and good governance in the various communities.

b.      The secretary will chair a monthly meeting between Chapters and the Executive to get feel back and suggestions on various issues

c.      Periodically visit with chapters and provide guidance, motivation and encourage participation in FELMAUSA’s activities.

d.      Collaborate with various chapters in raising needed funds for their activities via our full representation at all such functions (upon invitation). Percentages shall be negotiated of funds raised at such functions.

5.      A monthly news letter will provide updates to the community

a.      This is geared toward discouraging misinformation and speculations
