Ganta Youth To Support July 26 In
Nimba Courtesy: Public Agenda 21 July, 2010 The
Concern Youth of Ganta for Reconstruction and Development is commending
the Chairman, Hon. Musa H. Bility and members of the Special
Presidential Nimba Land Dispute Commission for the completion and
submission of its final report to Her Excellency, President Ellen
Jobnson-Sirleaf. The group said it is neither pertinent nor useful to recount the tragic story of what has transpired in Liberia in the last two decades, when the peace loving people of Liberia went through difficult times, including a bloody civil war. “It will not be pertinent because some of the details are still too fresh and painful to many individuals whose land and properties are still being illegally occupied in Nimba.” A detailed account of the past is, according to the youth group, not useful because it is bound to raise questions about cause and effects as well as individual responsibilities or who did what to whom? “Emotion may flare since opinions will differ on these questions,” they maintained. In a release issued here yesterday the youth said that the submission of this report by the Special Presidential Nimba Land Disputes Commission confirms the willingness and resilient of the Nimba people to reconcile their differences and live in peace and harmony; for the county belongs to all Nimbaians irrespective of tribal, religious and political differences. In view of the recent positive developments in finding a lasting solution to the land disputes in Nimba, the Concern Youth of Ganta for Reconstruction and Development said it would appreciate if Her Excellency, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf could give an official response to the Report of the Special Presidential Niniba Land Disputes Commission as it was submitted. “As we reach this milestone,” the youth group maintained, “let us nurture and strengthen democracy, for this is the only form of Government that can protect the rights of all citizens.” Meanwhile, The Concern Youth of Ganta for Reconstruction and Development has disclosed that it will fully participate in the 2010 July 26 Independence celebrations in Nimba, because of the progress being made by the Special Presidential Nimba Land Disputes Commission. |
