Senegal Calls for Guinea to Honor Electoral Promises

July 28, 2009
Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade is calling for Guinea's military ruler to keep his promise to hold elections later this year.
When Army Captain Moussa Camara took power in Conakry seven months ago, he telephoned Senegalese President Wade and asked him to be the international spokesman for his coup.
With the United States and European Union condemning the military take-over, President Wade said Captain Camara was an honest young man filling a dangerous vacuum following the death of long-time leader Lansana Conte. Mr. Wade said the ruling military council deserved international support because it was promising to hold free and fair elections. Read detail

Taylor: 'Sankor and His People Are Idiots'
Courtesy: Liberian Observer
July 24, 2009
THE HAGUE, Former president Charles Taylor, alleged to have been the main backer of Sierra Leone's atrocious civil war, stunned the court in The Hague Tuesday when he described Corporal Foday Sankor, the late leader of the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) and his people as a 'bunch of idiots'. Even though Taylor said he did not support Sierra Leonean rebels in the early 1990s, he told judges at the Special Court for Sierra Leone that he worked with them inside Sierra Leone to fend off attacks from the rival United Liberation Movement for Democracy in Liberia (ULIMO) armed group in Liberia. Gambian President Yahya Jammeh on Monday called the practices of the International Criminal Court unacceptable and warned that Africa would not be colonised again.
Jammeh told state owned GRTS television shortly after returning home from an African Union summit in Libya, "What is also not acceptable is the fact that any Western country can have a court that can indict an African head of state".
"It is unacceptable and we are telling them enough is enough," he said."My position is that Africa will not be colonised again in any way. Our agreement is that Africa is a continent, we should be able to punish and try our people since we have been dealing with our own problems." Read detail

What Is the Mission of TRC: reconciliation or prosecution?
By: Nvasekie N. Konneh
July 15, 2009
When Liberians overwhelmingly embraced the war launched by the NPFL in the early 90s, did they think that the war was going to be a Tea Party? Even from that very beginning when there were widespread reports of ethnic genocides committed by the rebels, wasn’t everyone looking the other way while at the same time condemning the Doe’s government? Fast forward 19 years or more, are they the same people (who overwhelmingly embraced the war) calling for war crime trial now? If they embraced the war from the beginning, knowing fully well that war is not a Tea Party, how hypocritical can they be now calling for war crime trial? What is the mission of TRC: reconciliation or prosecution?

Responding to Varmuyan Sirleaf's Infantile Rebuttal to My Article
By: Volunteer Reporter
July 12, 2009

I have just read the infantile reaction of Varmuyan Sirleaf to the article on the Mandingo Nations website about the President Elect Mohammed Dukuly not wanting to pay on two different occasions during the just ended FELMAUSA Convention in Minnesota. If I was Varmuyan, I would let the sleeping dog lie or come out with something intelligent and convincing enough. By coming out with some lame excuses, he is prolonging a matter that should be buried with simple acknowledgement of a mistake. Read detail

President elect, Mohammed Dukuly Celebrates his Victory with bad precedent!
By: Volunteer reporter
July 07, 2009
To enter the debate hall on Friday July 3, 2009, everyone, including the candidates, was required to pay $10.00. No one but candidate Mohammed Dukuly thought he shouldn't have to pay any money to enter. Candidate Dukuly's refusal to pay the $10.00 caused some commotion at the gate where he was told that everyone including President Richmond Konneh had paid and he was no exception. Even with this information candidate Dukuly still refused to pay the $10.00. The situation was only rescued from degenerating into a bigger commotion when one of his supporters paid the money. He was lectured by the gatekeepers that this gate intake was intended for FELMAUSA's coffer and it is one of the strategies in place to raise funds for the organization and without such FELMAUSA cannot function as an organization. The Liberian Mandingoes – A Way Forward
By: Mohammed Dukuly

July 01,2009
The ultimate decision of each one of us to be first and foremost a Liberian and then Mandingo is one that Allah decreed out of His rahmat(mercy) to mankind fifty thousand years before He created the heavens and earth; as such, no one has the slightest ability to alter God’s will. Rather, it becomes imperative for us as a people and servants of Allah to show gratitude to Him by capturing the true sense of humanity in every human being unheeded of anything whatsoever. In the same vein, I would say that being Liberians and Mandingoes is an inalienable privilege God bestowed upon us; we can’t refuse it; didn’t seek it; didn’t choose it. Read detail

June 30,2009
The tides could not have been any higher; the competition any stiffer, the issues any more sensitive, our community any more energized, the political atmosphere of our elections any more stimulated, and the future of our unborn generations any more tenuous.
These are the moments that will try our soul, test our resilience, challenge our integrity, and re-examine the true essence of our existence. If nothing else, such times and activities should challenge our utmost ability to rise above it all, and stand tall as one united front against the very petit issues that tear us apart and keep our community backward. Unraveling the sycophantic and hypocritical nature of the so-called “National Mandingo Caucus of Liberia ”, and the danger it poses to the political and social survival of the Mandingo ethnic group in present day Liberia :
By: Jesefu Morris Keita, Jr.
June 30, 2009
History is replete with numerous instances of situations in which a narrowly defined group or clique always desire to gain worldly riches and power at the expense of the majority by hijacking and at length torpedoing their genuine struggle for political and social liberation from the shackles of marginalization, political suppression and denial to equal opportunities. This is the sad state of affairs in which the Mandingoes of Liberia find themselves with the “National Mandingoes Caucus” serving as the elite who have now sworn to both heaven and earth that it must exploit its own people for innately selfish reasons. The Mamadee Sesay Campaign
Fourteen Points Platform

By: Musa Fofana, Chief Public Affair,
Atlanta, GA
June 27, 2009
As presidential candidate, the responsibility for the overall organization and management of my campaign lies under my leadership. I therefore want to make sure that we have clearly defined expectations for ourselves and for those we want to lead.
One way I think we can achieve success is to make sure we set our goals and specify how we intend to achieve those goals in the short and long run. In so doing, we need to come out with a platform that will set the tone of our campaign, shows the motivation and enthusiasm of my candidacy as well as excite our supporters
As an organization still in its infancy, I sincerely believe that what lies behind us is far lesser than what lies ahead of us. We however cannot tap into that potential blindly; we need a guide to lead us through. Read detail
