Angry Delegates Kick Prez Richmond &
VP Mamadee Sesay Out of Office By: Texas News Services July 4, 2009. Since yesterday, July 3, 2009, delegates from eleven states have been arriving in the twin cities, Minnesota, to attend the third annual convention of Felmausa. Yesterday, debates were held, where each candidate, contesting for the presidential, VP of Administration, VP of Operations, Secretary, and Board Chairman Positions had the opportunity to prove to the delegates that he is a better leader to serve Felmausa and the Mandingo community than his opponents. Today, July 4, 2009, the delegates, angry at Richmond M. Konneh’s administration for the past two years, for financial mismanagement, poor leadership, and failure to implement a single project for the organization, overwhelmingly voted for Mr. Mohammed Dukuly, a relatively unknown figure in the U. S. Liberian Mandingo community, as president for Felmausa, for the next two years to come. Those elected along with Mr. Dukuly are Mr. Mohammed Kromah, Vice President of Administration, Mr Joseph Sackor, Vice president of Operations, Mr. Phamolee Kromah, Secretary General, and Mr. Abe Kromah, Chairman of the Board. Abe Kromah, Chairman of the Board, was the only candidate from the past administration who clinched onto his position, by unmercifully defeating his opponents, Bangalee Trawally and Vamuye Sirleaf. Meanwhile, Mr. Dukuly, who served in the education committee of Mr. Konneh, ran on the rhetoric to bring change. At times, he was referred to as Mandingo Obama, for his eloquence. On the other hand, his opponents argue that he has not been involved in any Mandingo communities (mainly Georgia, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.) in which he has lived, and for this reason does not merit leading Felmausa, over people who have been working hard in the interest of the community. They also accuse Mr. Dukuly as being someone who talks too much, but delivers little or nothing, and that he served in the education committee, but did not deliver, as expected. It is always good to have someone to blame or point finger at, when one wants to ascend to power. However, when that someone is out of the way, you, too get in the spot to be blamed. Mr. Dukuly, for the next two years, will have nobody to blame or at which to point finger, and he will be expected to deliver the change he promised to bring to his supporters.
