  FELMAUSA AND COMMUNITY UNIFICATION
By: Shu’aib Konneh
13 January, 2012

Over the past years the Federation of Liberian Mandingo Association in the United States has served as one of the uniting factors in our community and it’s one of the most successful African organizations in the US. Our brothers and sisters in the US and around the world were amazed by the collective efforts of those that worked diligently to put this unique body together to unify our community. Every individual has the potential to improve his/her life but the founding members of this body should be proud of themselves for the time and efforts. May Allah bless the past and current leaders of this organization and may Allah guide our community on the right path.

We have witnessed tensions within this organization for years but the leaders have found ways to keep the harmony alive, but how long can they persevere? Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) is quoted as saying  "the man who is most hateful to Allah is the one who quarrels and disputes most’’ I’m pretty sure no one wants to be on Allah’s HATE LIST. Every elected leader must work hard for the people that they serve, whether you promised or not it’s your obligation. Our fore fathers have strived to keep unity amongst themselves for centuries regardless of their wealth’s (gold, cattle’s little education etc) but now we have (dollars, PHD, Masters etc) yet we can’t find common ground. It’s unfortunate that our brothers and sisters who are educated enough can’t handle things like the so-called EDUCATED ONES (no disrespect) rather chose to challenge each other on things that will not serve or help them in the hereafter. We must support one another in times of HAPPINESS and ADVERSITY. Remember the Prophet (PBUH) said “the strong man is not the good wrestler; the strong man is ONLY the one who controls himself when he is angry”.

To be cont……
