Austin Youth Association Pledges Support for the Kafumba Kromah Campaign
By: Campaign Staff
31 January, 2012

The Kromah campaign for the Minnesota Mandingo Association presidency paid a courtesy visit on the Austin Youth Association in Austin, Minnesota on January 29, 2012. Upon arrival, the 6 men campaign delegation team was warmly greeted and later introduced to the membership by the organization’s president, Hon. Ansumana Keita. In his formal welcome remarks, president Keita praised the delegation‘s effort in reaching out to the young brothers and sisters 100 miles away from the Twin Cities. “In all the years that we have lived here, this is the first time that we have seen a delegation of this sort”, the president added.

For his part, the campaign chairman, Hon. Lassana Jabateh thanked the thriving Mandingo Youth Association for the munificent welcome and admonished the gathering about the significance of this year’s election. “The rapid growth of your community organization has made it evermore essential to the Minnesota Mandingo Association; as such, it was imperative that we visit you in recognition of your association’s status but more so, we have come to ask for your support in ushering-in a reputable administration that will restore hopes and the lost dignity of the Minnesota Mandingo Association”, chairman Jabateh concluded.

Shortly after, the 2 most famous former presidents of MMA, Hon. Bangalee Trawally and Hon. Musa Kamara (AKA-the Bill Clinton of the Minnesota Mandingo Association) reminded the audience about past elections, adding that “change is often a good thing; that’s why previous president served one (1) term each and made way for other competent and willing community members “. The two community leaders stressed the need for making the forthcoming elections a turning point for a better community organization.

For his part, young community activist, Baba Toure challenged the crowd to ignore mere propaganda intended for character assassination and carefully examine candidate Kafumba Kromah’s service record and contributions to the Mandingo community, including the creation and the effective management of the Mandingo Nations’ website, a founding member and former vice president of MMA and the recent introduction of an audio/voice messaging communication system to the community.

As the presidential aspirant, Kafumba Kromah prepares to sum up the remarks, another campaign staff, Hon. Korme Fofana quickly seized the moment to inform the group that others may follow our good example of visiting Austin, but “note that they are only doing it because we did it; after all, they have been in power for the past 2 years but never once visited you” ,Fofana said.

President Ansumana Keita then asked if anyone had a question, but instead of asking questions, individual members of the organization began pledging their support to campaign. One by one, nearly everyone promised to not only support the presidential hopeful, Kafumba Kromah but to also be a foot soldier in recruiting friends and family.

Hon. Kromah thanked all the speakers and praised the officials and members of Austin Youth Association for their support. He explained that he was in the race for the people and not himself. As he looks around the room, noticing many news faces, Kromah noted the days when MMA made a conscientious effort in reaching out to every newly arrived Mandingo person in Minnesota with little welcome token. In conclusion, Mr. Kromah told the crowd that he was counting their support. He promised that the Austin Youth Association will be integral part of his administration, beginning with possibly changing MMA’s current end of the month meeting to a teleconference format that would enable the folks in Austin to participate in the meetings like everyone else.
