A tribute to the late Layee Alieu or M'Memmeh Alieu Donzo
By: Manyou Bility
10 January, 2012

May his soul rest in perfect peace. Ameena! Layee or M'memmeh Alieu as he was commonly called served as host to many of our people in N'zerekore during the 14 years of civil war including Prof. Alhaji Kromah and some of our brave and proud brothers who defended our community.

He was one of the fathers of our liberation struggle. I was a little boy at that time but can vividly recall visiting to see our brave and proud brothers along with their CIC at the late M'memmeh Alieu's residence in N'zerekore, Guinea. Though he's gone today, he will forever be remembered for the sacrifices he made for the community.

He was one of those who made their personal finances and properties available for the Liberation of our community. In short, I close by saying that we have lost a LIBERATOR.To the children and relatives of M'memmeh Alieu, your father or relative was an asset to our community!!! A liberator whose contribution along with others' saved our community, the Liberian Mandingo Community from the calamities that awaited us had there been no one to stop Charles Taylor and his ragtag and insane rebels. Again, Memmeh Alieu, as a pen down this note with my eyes filled with tears, I ask that Allah grant you Alijinah and protect you from hell fire. Ameena!!
