Hundred of citizens in electoral district #9, Montserrado County, under the banner, Friends Of (FOHABSANG), have petitioned Habib Sangaray to contest the ensuing 2011 presidential and legislative elections for the district’s representative seat. Electorates in their petition statement over the weekend recounted numerous contributions Sangaray has made in the district, saying it was time to pledge their unflinching support and loyalty to him in the ensuing elections to represent their interest in the Lower House of the Liberian Parliament. Ivory Coast Government Troops and Rebels Fight Near Liberian Border

Ivory Coast is moving closer to a return to civil war with rebels claiming to have captured new territory in the west and supporters of the incumbent president calling for attacks against foreigners and U.N. peacekeepers. Incumbent president Laurent Gbagbo's youth leader says Gbagbo supporters should chase foreigners from their neighborhoods and block the movement of United Nations peacekeepers who he says are backing rebels allied with the U.N.-certified winner of the presidential election, Alassane Ouattara. When the Liberian civil war ended with the call for a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, some Liberians and the entire international community welcome the idea as an opportunity that will close that ugly chapter of Liberia, through healing and restorative justice. The commission has long since shut its gates and while the debate on its report is forgotten in many quarters, some, including the Supreme Court and hosts of some radio talk-shows still consider it worthy of discussion. Guinea bankrupted by junta - President Alpha Conde

Guinea's President Alpha Conde has told the BBC the military junta that held power before he was elected has left the country bankrupt. Mr Conde said the army leaders had spent more money in two years than in the 50 years from independence in 1958. "It was like they were printing money as if there was no tomorrow," he said. In December, Mr Conde, a veteran opposition leader, was declared the winner of Guinea's first democratic election in 52 years. Read detail

Citizens of district #10 in Montserrado County have petitioned a prominent son of the district Chemo Foday Kouyateh alias 'papa' to contest for the district representative seat in the 2011 general elections. According to the citizens of the district, since the creation of the district as a sub-political unit within the county of Montserrado, it has been observed that the past officials had ignored the basic needs of the district and its people. The citizens listed some of the infrastructures ignored by the past and present district administrations as: administrative building, health center, general market, recreation center and vocational institution amongst other things. Ivorian Rebels Say No Threat To Liberia's Peace

Rebel forces in the Ivory Coast said there will be no security threat to Liberia's peace process as long as Liberia is not interfering into their crisis. The Ivorian rebel forces under the control of Alassan Ouattara, the internationally accepted winner of that country's presidential election said they are comfortable with the level of cooperation between the Liberian government security forces and their troop. Charles Taylor: A waiting game as trial extended

This might have been the last day of the marathon war crimes trial of Liberia's former leader Charles Taylor, but no-one present was surprised by the latest adjournment.  Mr Taylor was not in court on Friday to hear the legal argument over whether the trial should be extended. He maintained his boycott that began on Tuesday when both he and his defence lawyer, Courtenay Griffiths, absented themselves from the court after a row with the judges.  Read detail

Court Admits Wikileaks Documents in Former Liberian President's Trial

Judges at the war crimes trial of former Liberian President Charles Taylor have admitted into evidence two Wikileaks documents that appear to question the impartiality of the Special Court for Sierra Leone. The decision comes just days before prosecutors and defense attorneys present their closing arguments in Mr. Taylor's war crimes trial. Mr. Taylor is pleading not guilty to 11 counts of crimes against humanity for his alleged support of Revolutionary United Front rebels during a 10-year civil war in neighboring Sierra Leone. African Union Names Heads-of-State Panel to Deal with Ivory Coast Crisis

The African Union has named five heads of state to work toward resolution of Ivory Coast's political crisis. The African Union says it expects the panel to complete its work within one month. At the hearing of death news, Muslims are enjoined to say Ina lilahi Wa Ina Elhaih Rajuun . Cruelly translated, this means from Him we come, and unto Him we shall all return. Such are the words that most of us have uttered ever since the sudden news of Nva sakaifa Kamara’s death broke out. These Kalimats or words do not necessarily prevent any emotional trauma that we experience on hearing such a heart shaking news, but at least serve as reminder that this life will one day certainly come to an end.
