Nimba Mandingoes want inheritance
right respected By: Emmanuel Broh Courtesy: Star Radio News December 05, 2009 Members of the Nimba Mandingo Community have disclosed an ambitious plan to return to their homeland of Ganta and contribute to the county’s reconstruction process. A spokesman of the Nimba Mandingo Community told Star Radio they wanted to return to Ganta to rebuild their structures damaged by years of war. Mr. Jurah Sanoe said members of the Nimba Mandingo Community have regained their properties in several parts of the county and wanted to do same in Ganta. Mr. Sanoe said Nimba Mandingoes were finding it difficult regaining pieces of land inherited from their forefathers. He said the Nimba Mandingo Community has received credible information that government was planning to declare these inherited parcels of land public property. Mr. Sanoe called on Government not to declare the land in question public property as there is legitimate title deeds to them. He believes there are other unclaimed real properties in Nimba that could be used for the beautification of the county instead of the inherited parcels of land. |
