WE NEED YOUR BOOKS NOT YOUR CASH-Letter for Donation

Dear Donor,

Did you know that in Liberia, West Africa?

78% of the population is under 35 years old and out of that 78% 53% is under 18 years old, this shocking and alarming statistics is due to the Liberian Civil unrest, which last for 15 years, 300,000 people dead and destroyed every sectors of the nation including the education sector of Liberia.  The illiteracy rate is also alarming about 85% of the nation is illiterate and some kids never get to see the inside of a high school classroom, own a text books, read any fictional books.

When I'm asked why we should care about what happens in Liberia, I think about my five month tripped to Liberia and its children in the street of Monrovia and no place to go to refresh their minds and improve their understanding of their academic environment.   When I first visited a high school on Front Street in Monrovia, Liberia and students couldn't read. As a caring and compassionate person I pledged to advocate for books and materials to establish a public library in Liberia in memorial of my late father Souleymane Sylla, or the future looked bleak: without an education, children are destined to live a life on the streets, because of inadequate education for the future generation of the world.

Some children are in school now, but my goal is open a public library with sufficient books to read, learn, go back to work with Liberian children, and to provide much needed educational care.

This year, I have the ambitious goal of opening a public library. Won't you consider helping me and give the children of Liberia a brighter future? After all, investing in one child, is investing in an entire community.

Sincerely,

Ali Sylla, MS, CCJP, LPC LCADC
