CDC PRESS RELEASE: HARIRI: “WEAH AN INSPIRATIONAL LEADER”
By: Eugene Lenn Nagbe
17 August, 2010
(Beirut, Lebanon- August 16, 2010) – Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri has described CDC Standard Bearer George Weah as an “iconic and inspirational leader whose life story serves as a motivational factor” for modern world leaders like himself who believe in the well-being of humanity.

He said it required a strong-willed personality to raise oneself from the depths of poverty and under-privilege to achieve success on the world stage and impact the lives of so many people.
The Lebanese Prime Minister urged Ambassador Weah to continue to use his global profile to work in the interest of humanity and contribute positively to the sustenance of peace and democracy in Liberia. He made the remarks Monday during discussions with Ambassador Weah at his office in Beirut.
For his part, Ambassador Weah used the opportunity to express sympathy to Mr. Hariri for the “tragic assassination” of his late father Rafik Hariri.

He commended Prime Minister Hariri for working assiduously in fostering peace and reconciliation amongst the people of Lebanon. Ambassador Weah cited the historic bond between the peoples of Lebanon and Liberia as a genuine partnership.
He said the Lebanese leader’s effort at unifying his people and carrying out massive infrastructural projects in Beirut should serve as an example of good statesmanship which Liberian and other African political leaders should emulate.
During his 5-day visit, the Liberian political leader held several meetings with Lebanese businessmen, politicians and philanthropists urging them to carry out impactful investment and support humanitarian projects in Liberia.
