Sekou Kenneh responds to Quardu Gboni Board Chairman, Mr.Vamadu Sheriff's Baseless Article
By: Sekou Kenneh
August 28, 2009
Thank you for responding to my recent article on Quardu Gboni. Mandingo unity is very important to all of us. First of all, for the benefit of you and our distinguished readers, I encourage you to go back and reread my "message of unity". I think that will help you better understand the article that you are trying to distort. Your mischaracterization of me in your response suggests to me that you didn't read the article yourself or if you did you didn't comprehend its contents. Therefore, I propose if for any reason that you're unable to differentiate between the definition of SUGGESTION and DEMAND, please revisit your lexicon, encyclopedia or thesaurus.

From what I was taught in class, the word SUGGESTION is an Antonym (words that are opposite in meaning to another word or words) to the word DEMAND. I did not demand but, rather suggested that you change the Nomenclature from Quardu Gboni Mandingo Association, so that it does not sound like we are divided, whereas, we are not.
If Mr. Alhaji G.V. Kromah, the man whom we all admire or idolize in our community and also your kinsman had differentiated between us as Mandingos in Liberia, do you think with in your sound mind that ULIMO was ever going to succeed in Liberia? Do you think that we Mandingoes would've ever lifted our heads in pride in Liberia? I believe the answer to the above questions is a resounding NO.
How would the Quardu Gboni community feel, if the Mandingoes of Bahn, Nimba County had commemorated the deaths of the Mandingoes that were massacred in Bahn without recognizing the 300 people that lost their lives in the Quardu Gboni areas?

As an honorable brother, it is very troubling to see you fabricating my Article, as if you are the only person who read the Article .
Mr. Sheriff, With all due respect, I do not appreciate that kind of misinterpretation
because it is a complete fallacy and misleading. It is an attempt to distort my record and that is one of the highest levels of mischaracterization intended to simply distract the community from the BIGGER PICTURE of our collective struggle.

We know that truth hurts, but like it or not, truth is the truth. Anytime you place truth against falsehood, truth wins. It can't be exchanged with anything, but the truth.
And the truth is, there's only one MANDINGO ETHNIC GROUP in Liberia. That's the fact of the matter. Although, you made lots of false analogies
in your reaction which I am not prepare to react to, but I'll leave that to the readers. Right now the people of Quardu Gboni may choose to distinguish, but our enemies did not distinguish during the civil war in Liberia. We were all hunted as Mandingoes, not as Quardu Gboni Mandingoes, Nimba Mandingoes, or Grand Gedeh Mandingoes etc.

And for the record, Mr. Sheriff, let me be clear, I didn't and I repeat, I didn't and I will never in any shape or form look down on the people of Quardu Gboni because I believe that there's no distinction between us and the other Mandingo people of Quardu Gobni.

We are all under the same umbrella as Liberian Mandingoes, as far as I know.
By reason of clarification and for the sake of UNITY, I will once again repeat the statement in my previous Article, which I standby. The Quardu Gboni massacred was barbaric, outrageous and it merits all level of condemnation.
I believe it is equally important to acknowledge the facts that there were fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters of other Liberian Mandingoes, plus our Muslim brothers and sisters that were unjustly murdered in the fourteen years Liberian civil war, Including all of our past heroes and heroines just like our brothers and sisters that lost their lives in the Quardu Gboni areas.

Remember what Prophet Muhamed said (PEACE AND BLESSINGS OF ALLAH BE UPON HIM) THAT "MUSLIMS ARE LIKE A SINGLE BODY, IF ANYTHING AFFECTS ONE PART OF YOUR BODY, THAT AFFECTS EVERY PART OF YOUR BODY".

Agree or not, we are Muslims. Maybe 99% if not 100%.For these and many other reasons, All Liberian Mandingoes should be considerate of each other regardless of our place of origins, settlements or county. It will be condescending and alienating to the Mandingo Community in general for a section of us to be insensitive to the feelings of the rest of the community.
And Mr. Sheriff, for the benefit of all of us as Mandingoes, can you please explain to us beyond all reasonable doubts the distinction between Quardu Gboni Mandingoes and Liberian Mandingoes? As for me, I believe Mandingo is Mandingo.
Although I agree with you when you said that "this is beyond Organizational struggle" correct me, if am wrong. That speaks to the fact that, this will not only affect our Organizations, but our Community itself.

Thank you very much and may Allah help us understand ourselves.

Most Respectfully
Sekou Kenneh, Opinion leader,MN.
